OptiPen Pro

• For use with Hoescht Marion Roussel insulin. This insulin is only available in a 25, soluble, and isophane mix. (Insuman range if insulin)

• To use, press the grey circle on the underside of the digital readout, the plunger will automatically depress, then the units required can be dialled by turning it clockwise. THE PLUNGER MUST BE DEPRESSED FULLY UNTIL IT HAS CLICKED IN PLACE TO BE ASSURED THAT THE REQUIRED AMOUNT OF INSULIN HAS BEEN GIVEN.

• To change the cartridge ensure that the barrel has been unscrewed by turning it anti-clockwise, depress the dialling plunger then push it in slightly and turn anti-clockwise, this will release the metal plunger (that pushes the insulin out), and a new cartridge can be put in the holder. Screw the barrel back on, point the pen upwards and keep dialling up to 4 units until insulin is seen emerging from the needle.

• If there is not enough insulin left in the cartridge, the pen will not let you dial up.

• If too much insulin has been dialled, depress the plunger slightly and turn backwards until the desired amount of units has been dialled.
