Hypoguard Petit

Calibration

1. Switch the machine on by pressing the large, pink button.

2. The code number will be displayed along with the current time.

3. To change the code, press the grey button that has the arrow facing upwards. The word code will be displayed along with the previous number.

4. Press the C button (with the arrow facing upwards) to increase the value, and the M button (with the arrow facing downwards) to decrease the value, until the new code number is displayed.

5. Press the on/off button to turn the machine off. The new code will be automatically stored.

Testing

1. Wash your hands.

2. Switch the meter on by using the on/off button (large pink button).

3. Check that the code displayed matches code that is printed on the canister of strips.

4. Insert the strip into the machine with the smaller circle facing upwards.

5. Obtain your blood sample and apply it to the strip.

6. Three horizontal bars will appear on the screen to indicate that the machine is beginning to count down.

7. After 30-60 seconds a number will appear on the screen. This number is your blood glucose reading.

8. Switch the meter off and dispose of the strip appropriately.

9. To check the accuracy, the strip can be turned over and visually compared with the colour chart that comes with the strips.

10. Display messages:

HI The blood glucose is above 22.2

LO The blood glucose reading is below 2.0

Bot The batteries are low

E-0 The meter has been damaged.

E-1 Insufficient light through the optical area. Remove strip and start again.

E-2 The strip has been removed during measuring.

E-3 Insufficient blood to test strip.
